Lucky XELA-ettes, Suzie & Maryann, spent a couple of days hitting fabulous fashion week in NYC — the things these ladies are forced to do in the name of a dear friend’s birthday…. they hit up delicious restaurants {duh} and breathtaking fashion shows. DVF, Donna Karan, Alice & Olivia, Carmen Marc Valvo & Carolina Herrera – to say they covered a lot of ground in a very short period of time is putting it quite mildly.
In a totally non-related to anything XELA post, the other night, I made Kalamata Olive Bread and coming from someone who is not so much of a Kitchen Whiz, it was the EASIEST recipe ever!
Get yourself the following and get excited! 3 cups self rising flour, 1/2 cup sugar, a 12oz beer, and a 1/4 cup of melted butter. That. Is. It!!
In a bowl, mix the self rising flour, sugar and the beer {I used a Belgian Beer,
but you can use whatever you wish, just make sure it is a 12oz bottle} Mix it up until it is good and blended. Then I added sliced and pitted Kalamata olives – I just threw them in and stirred around. To be honest, I didn’t dump all the olives in at once, mostly because the mixture is kinda thick, so in an effort not to have a single slice of bread with every single olive in it, I split up my dumping to even it out.
Put the now olive bread mixture in a loaf pan and bake for 40 minutes on 350. At the 40 minute mark {or depending on your oven} once the bread starts to get golden brown, you pour the melted butter over the bread and then put it back in the oven for about 7 minutes. And VOILA’… warm, olive bready goodness!
It is almost easier than making instant pudding {ok, that is a stretch, but it is close…} Next time, I think I might get adventurous and mix in sun dried tomatoes and some delicious grated cheese! You can honestly mix in whatever fancies you or complements the mean that you are serving. So easy! So delicious!
Let us know if you try this! Have a great rest of your week! xoxo, the XELA-ettes
The NYIGF was a booming success for XELA! We made great new contacts. We saw fabulous current customers. And we ate. Considering that the only real time we see NYC in the daylight is on our morning walk from the hotel to the Javits… we try to make the most of post show time. We break bread with fun Manhattan friends, we hit our favorite meal spots and we go all over town.
Night one, while breaking bread at our NYC favorite Taboon we talked about the photos that we would take throughout the week to share the city and the gift show with all of you… and we made sure to comment that we would be those girls who took food pictures…. but truth is, once the food hit the table, we were so ravenous and excited for the food to touch our lips, that well, we don’t have very many food pictures to share – kinda embarrassing.
Here is a little bit of our adventures… food & otherwise. xoxo!
